Payment

How can I pay for my purchases?

You can pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) or PayPal (JPY or USD).

Can I get a receipt?

Receipts are available for all purchases.See “Receipts” in the User Guide.
If you need a receipt in English or wish to change the address listed, please contact us.

Can I make purchases from outside Japan?

Yes, you can. However, purchases currently cannot be made from the following countries.
Korea, Mongolia, Philippines, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, Switzerland, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Serbia, Russia, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey, Bahrain, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tunisia, Tanzania, South Africa, and Zambia

Can other currencies be used for settlement?

Settlement is done in Japanese yen only.

Purchasing e-books

When can I start accessing e-books I purchased?

You can start as soon as you receive your ID/password for the e-book reading website. These will be emailed to you in approx. five business days after your payment is processed.

I have not received the information I need to view the e-book.

The ID and password for the e-book reading website will be sent to the e-mail address registered in your account.
Please search your mailbox first. It may be in your spam mail.

Do you offer product returns, refunds, or replacements?

Due to the nature of the products, we do not offer returns, refunds, or replacements.

Can I read e-books on a smartphone or tablet?

The e-books on our e-book reading website can be read on personal computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Can multiple devices be logged in with the same ID at the same time?

Up to two devices (PCs, smartphones, tablets) can be logged in with the same ID at the same time.

The notes I wrote in the e-book have disappeared. What happened?

All e-book notes are stored on your device. You should be able to see previous notes if you log in with the same device you used when you made the notes. However, keep in mind that notes will be lost if you clear your device’s cache or replace your device with a new one.

Purchasing Downloadable Products

Do you offer product returns, refunds, or replacements?

Due to the nature of downloadable products, we do not offer returns, refunds, or replacements.

How are the downloads delivered?

A link to the downloading site will be sent to the email address you registered when purchasing the product. Download your product by accessing the link provided.

Can downloadable products be shared with other people at the same school, etc.?

If you wish to have more than one person at your school or other institution use the same product, please purchase it as an institutional customer order. For details, see here.

What are institutional customer orders?

Products that can be purchased as an institutional customer order are sold at a price higher than that set for individual customers. However, they can be used by any number of instructors who teach at the purchasing institution. The actual product is the same for both institutional and individual customers.

An instructor who purchased a product as an individual customer can use it at more than one school. However, instructors cannot use an institutional customer product at schools other than the purchasing institution.

Do I need a special app to purchase download products?

Our downloadable products are provided as ZIP files. You need to have software for unzipping (decompressing) downloaded ZIP files before using the files they contain. As for using the decompressed product files, see the product’s profile page to find out what application is needed to run them.

Can I download the same product more than once?

Yes, but there is a limit: 5 times for individual customer purchases, and 10 times for institutional customer purchases.

I accidentally deleted my download. What do I do?

Customers are responsible for properly storing the downloadable products they purchased. We do not provide replacements or refunds for any products, including cases where the customer accidentally deleted or the product files.

Handling of Downloads

Can I make copies of the downloadable product I purchased?

Generally, if you bought a downloadable product as an individual customer, you can make copies only for the purpose of personally using the product on multiple devices you own. However, certain products allow you to share their content with students you teach and/or make copies of their content for use in teaching materials that you create. For details, see the profile page for each product.

Can downloadable products be loaned to other people?

Generally, downloadable products purchased by individual customers and copies of them cannot be loaned to or otherwise shared with other people. However, certain products allow you to share their content with students you teach and/or make copies of their content for use in teaching materials that you create. For details, see the profile page for each product.

Products purchased by institutional customers can be shared among the instructors who teach at the institution.

Can I sell my download to other people?

No, downloadable products may not be resold.

I don’t know the password for the Illustrated Dialogue Slides. What is it?

All slide for this product are read-only files. To open them, click the “Open as read only” option in the password entry window. The password is not available to the public.

Purchasing GENKI Japanese Readers

I privately teach Japanese. Can I buy GENKI Japanese Readers?

Yes. Determine how many people (you and your students) will use the product, and order it via the Institutional Sales of GENKI Japanese Readers page.

Can I change my subscription plan?

Active subscription plans cannot be changed. However, you can switch to a different plan when repurchasing a subscription at the end of its term.

No fee is charged for creating customer account.

Can I make purchases without a customer account?

A customer account is necessary for buying products on this site. Please create an account if you wish to make purchases.
