Payment method

Payment can be made by credit card or PayPal.
Transactions are settled in Japanese yen.

Credit card

Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are accepted, including cards issued outside Japan.

PayPal

Payment can be made through accounts (credit/debit card, bank, etc.) registered with PayPal.
This includes payment with PayPal Checkout (one-click payment).

 

Steps for making a purchase

When purchasing e-books

STEP1：Select product/plan and add to cart

Select the e-book (and subscription plan) you want to purchase and add it to your cart. If you wish to buy more than one product, add all of them to the same cart.

 

STEP2：Log in to Digital Store and set up account (first time only)

Click “Proceed to checkout” in the cart page. Create an account if you are a first-time user. If you already have an account, log in to it.

 

STEP3：Enter your order and payment information

After confirming that the product, plan, quantity, and invoice amount are correct, enter your billing contact and payment method. Click “Pay now” to immediately process your payment.

 

STEP4：Receive e-book reading website IDs/passwords and begin using your subscription

You will be emailed user IDs/passwords for accessing the e-book reading website in approx. five business days after your payment is processed. Log in to the e-book reading website* to begin using the products subscribed.
*Separate from the Digital Store website.

 

How to view e-books

STEP1: Access the e-book reading website and log in

Your e-books from the Japan Times Publishing Digital Store can be viewed on the e-book reading website.

The ID and password for logging into the e-book reading website will be sent to you in a separate email. Please read the email below.

For customers who have active e-book contracts other than this order
Purchased e-books can be viewed by logging into the e-book reading web site using your current ID.
If you have forgotten your registered ID or password, please contact us.

 

STEP2: Select and view your desired e-book.

After logging in, the library screen will appear. Select your desired book and you will be able to read it. You can underline text or write notes right onto the e-book. Please feel free to use this feature.

 

STEP3: End of your contract period

Once your contract period ends, access to e-book reading will be automatically disabled. If you would like to extend your subscription period, please re-purchase the title. Once re-purchased, you will be able be given a new subscription period of 12 months.

 

When purchasing downloads

STEP1：Select product and add to cart

Select the download you want to purchase and add it to your cart. If you wish to buy more than one product, add all of them to the same cart.

STEP3：Enter your order and payment information

STEP4：Receive download link

After your purchase is completed, we will send you the two emails indicated below. To download your product, click the download link sent in the email Your downloads are ready.

Receipts

You can obtain a receipt on your purchase through either of the two methods below. The receipt can be printed out and saved as a PDF file (in Japanese only).
If you need a receipt in English or wish to change the address listed, please contact us.

1.Click “Show receipt” button in order confirmation email.

 

2.Click the “Receipt” button for the order in your Digital Store account page.

Before purchasing an e-book, please use the Preview feature to test-read it on your system.
